Miele W3038 Washing Machine Review: Is It Worth the High Cost?

Miele: Forever Better

I can’t believe I have only now gotten around to writing this review of my Miele W3038 washing machine.

Just to give you some background, laundry has always been my favorite chore, but when I moved in with my now husband our condo did not have a washer. It didn’t even have space for a washer, since the hookups were in a tiny closet in the bathroom where we kept all our household stuff! So we spent several years using a wash and fold service (you can read more about that here) till I finally got my Miele W3038 washer and T8023C dryer as a wedding gift.

That was a year and a half ago, and in that time I’ve really gotten a chance to test out the Miele W3038. I run on average 7-10 loads of laundry a week, and at this point have tested out every single setting the washer offers. I’ve also determined its strengths and weaknesses and have figured out the optimal settings for my daily needs. Read the rest of my Miele washing machine review to get the full details.

Persil ProClean Review

Persil ProClean is now available at Walmart

As you probably already know, I am a huge fan of German Persil and got very excited last week when the launch of Persil ProClean was announced in the US. Unfortunately, none of my local Walmarts were carrying the Persil ProClean line yet, so I reached out the the folks at ProClean and they were kind enough to send me some samples. I received them yesterday and of course had to put the US version of Persil to the test straight away! Here are my first impressions, and I will be doing a full comprehensive review after I’ve used the detergents for a while.

Edit June 5, 2015: Consumer Reports has named Persil ProClean 2-in-1 liquid their #1 top rated detergent! Read more here.

Tide and Persil – In Search of the Perfect Laundry Detergent pt.1

persil vs tide

Is there such a thing as a perfect laundry detergent? That was the first question I asked myself when, after almost 4 years of using a wash and fold service, we finally purchased a washer and dryer. I must have spent at least two months reading various reviews, trying to figure out where to start, and finally singled out the top two recommended brands: Tide (huge in North America) and Persil (one of the biggest names in Europe). Read on to find out how they stack up!

And yes, I definitely understand both ladies in the picture above – laundry is hands down my favorite chore! While you might not see me hugging a box of detergent too often, I most certainly get excited about trying out new products, choosing new favorite scents and trying to find the absolute best laundry detergent out there.

All of the reviewed detergents are HE or HE compatible and contain enzymes unless otherwise noted (detergents with enzymes are not recommended for wool, silk and other delicate fabrics).

Update March 12, 2015: This review is about German-made Henkel Persil. If you are looking to read about the US version of Persil, Persil ProClean sold at Walmart, I posted about it here in detail and with before/after pictures.

My Top Ten Green/Natural Kitchen Cleaners Reviewed – Seventh Generation, Method, Ecover and more!

I’ve been a Vitacost and iHerb shopper for years, and the reason that initially brought me there was a desire to switch to more natural cleaning products and specifically natural kitchen cleaners. I am very sensitive to scents and fumes, and having to use bleach or Tilex on the tub and Lysol in the bathroom always left me with watery eyes and a splitting headache. Even worse in the kitchen, where everything comes into contact with food!
I figured that there had to be some alternative, and started searching for “green” products that would be less aggressive, but still effective. There was a lot of trial and error along the way, but I would love to share some of my favorites, as well as a couple of duds to stay away from.

This is the first part of a series of posts where I will share my cleaning experience – stay tuned!

If you are a first time Vitacost or iHerb customer, you can receive $10 off your first order and try out a lot of these products for so much less than you would pay retail!

  • To save $10 off your first Vitacost purchase of $30+ follow this link.
  • To save $10 off your first iHerb order of $40+ (and $5 off of anything under $40) use code VMC661 or follow this link.
